Before we get to the real meat of this question we need to understand that the answer to this question is really just predictions thrown together by a number of gold investors. That being said, there is some pretty defining info that backs up the following answer to whether or not the gold bull market is about to end.
First off, lets take a quote from Richard Russell – who is considered to be the grandfather of the investment industry newsletter. Whether you agree with that statement or not is up to you, however Russell has been at this for half a century, so his claims are pretty valid. Here is a great quote from him regarding the bull market for gold:
“I’ve studied bull and bear markets for over half a century. In my experience, great extended bull markets, such as the current ten-year bull market in gold, don’t die with a wheeze and a whimper. They die amid mass excitement, torrid speculation and finally the wholesale entrance of the retail public.” – Richard Russell, July 19, 2011
This is quite a statement if your consider that most (if not all) investors believe that we are only about 5% into the part of the bull market cycle for gold that sees the retail investor accumulate. In other words, popular estimates put gold at one-twentieth of the way until the mass of the public hungers for it.
What does this mean? Ten years into a huge bull market and most people don’t think it is for real. This is the perfect mix for a bull market to operate in. Bull markets always rise with as few people on board as possible. Since we are only around 5% into the gold bull market cycle, that means there is still plenty of wiggle room for gold’s bull market run to continue. How long will it last? Well, only a fool would try to predict that, but it is definitely a safe bet to think that the bull market for gold is not going anywhere anytime soon.
Besides, you will see the signs when they start to happen. We witnessed it in housing loans and real estate when younger people started talking about putting their down payments on credit cards… how did that work out? You will know when you see it, but both gold and silver are far from it. Get invested now!
